If you are weighing a Vellgus against other panels, compare irradiance method and return terms before price, because Vellgus lists more than 245 mW/cm2 with no distance and no third-party test, and offers a 30-day trial with a 20% restocking fee. At about $1,100 the Vellgus Pro sits with the BlockBlueLight PowerPanel MAX, the RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT and the Helio Glow, with the MitoPRO 1500X a step above, and the real differences are the wavelength mix, how output was measured and what a return costs.
Choosing a panel? Our ranking of the best red light therapy panels is computed from published, method-labeled specs across 188 devices. For a Vellgus comparison, the spec that matters is irradiance with a stated instrument and distance, because an unlabeled figure cannot be set against a measured one.
Where Vellgus sits
The Vellgus page tracks four models: the Mini at $339, the Elite V2 at $549, the Pro at $1,119 and the Max 300 at $1,499. The Pro and Max 300 list the same five bands (630, 660, 810, 830 and 850nm), with 120 and 300 LEDs respectively, and the brand does not publish how output is split among the bands. The Elite V2 adds 480nm, for six bands.
Terms are the same across the range: a 3-year warranty, a 30-day trial with a 20% restocking fee on orders placed after February 2023, and no stand in the box (a floor stand or flex mobile stand is extra). Goggles are included. The Pro price was verified on August 13, 2026.
The measurement is the point to keep in mind. The brand claims more than 245 mW/cm2 without a distance, and the database notes no third-party spectrometer test and treats the figure as likely inflated. The database page also contradicts itself on whether the number came from a spectrometer, so it is worth asking the brand directly. The site's claimed versus measured analysis explains why a figure with no instrument or distance is weak evidence. The page also notes the brand is FDA-registered and listed, not cleared; the FDA explainer covers the difference.
What to compare
- Irradiance method and distance. A figure with a named instrument and a distance is worth more than a larger unlabeled one. See the irradiance guide.
- Wavelength mix. More bands, and whether the split is published. The wavelength guide covers what each band is for.
- Return terms. Trial length, restocking fees and who pays return shipping differ more between brands than prices do.
- Mounting and extras. A stand or goggles add cost or save it.

Four alternatives
BlockBlueLight PowerPanel MAX, $1,100 (verified September 12, 2026). The PowerPanel MAX is 920 x 220 x 65mm with 240 dual-chip LEDs and the same five bands as the Vellgus Pro, split 40% each for 660 and 850nm, 10% for 630nm and 5% each for 810 and 830nm. The brand states 162 mW/cm2 at 6 inches, but the page is inconsistent about whether that is a solar-meter reading, and advises halving it if so. Terms: a 5-year warranty and a 30-day trial. There is no restocking fee on panels, the customer pays return shipping, and discount-code purchases over 15% are exchange or store credit only.
RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT, $1,095 (verified September 12, 2026). The Total Spectrum COMPACT is 30.3 x 11.8 inches with 216 single-chip LEDs and seven bands, split 6% at 480nm, 19% each at 630, 660 and 810nm, 14% each at 830 and 1064nm and 9% at 850nm. The database lists 99.0 mW/cm2 at 6 inches by spectrometer from Electropossible Ltd, but the same page cautions that the published lab tests were commissioned by the brand and no unaffiliated measurement is on file. Terms: a 3-year warranty, a 60-day trial with no restocking fee, and a stand included. It mounts vertically only.
Helio Glow, $1,199 (verified September 12, 2026). The Glow is 29.9 x 11.8 x 2.4 inches with 216 single-chip LEDs and six bands (630, 660, 810, 830, 850 and 1064nm) with a published split. The brand states 71 mW/cm2 at 6 inches by spectrometer, and an outside measurement by LightLab averaged 71.7. Terms: 3-year warranty, 60-day trial, no restocking fee stated, sold as a panel-plus-stand bundle.
MitoPRO 1500X, $1,299 (verified August 13, 2026). The 1500X is a 10 x 43 inch panel with 300 dual-chip lenses and six bands (590, 630, 660, 810, 830 and 850nm). The brand states 160 mW/cm2 at 6 inches, with labeling the page calls internally inconsistent. Terms: 3-year warranty, 60-day trial, no restocking fee, customer pays return shipping unless the add-on was bought. The stand is sold separately. The Mito alternatives guide covers the brand in more depth. For the Vellgus Max 300 tier, the Hooga vs Vellgus comparison sets it against the Hooga ULTRA4500.

Readings come from different sources, distances and dates, so small gaps are not a ranking. Prices change; check the linked pages for the current figure. For other multi-band options, the multi-wavelength panel ranking lists them by database fields.
What the numbers mean for session time
A dose is irradiance multiplied by time, so lower irradiance means a longer session for the same target. Using a 20 J/cm2 reference dose and the formula in the dose calculator, at 6 inches:
- Vellgus Pro at half of 245, or 122.5: about 2.7 minutes
- Total Spectrum COMPACT at 99.0: about 3.4 minutes
- PowerPanel MAX at half of 162, or 81: about 4.1 minutes
- MitoPRO 1500X at half of 160, or 80: about 4.2 minutes
- Helio Glow at 71: about 4.7 minutes
The halving follows the database's guidance for unlabeled or solar-meter figures; it is a planning assumption, not a measurement. The spread is about two minutes per area. Distance matters more than any of this, as the inverse square law explains, so keep the measuring distance constant when you compare.
Which one fits which buyer
- You want the lowest price on a five-band panel and can verify the output yourself: the Vellgus Pro, accepting an unlabeled irradiance claim and a 30-day trial with a 20% restocking fee.
- You want the longest warranty: the BlockBlueLight PowerPanel MAX, accepting a 30-day trial and return shipping at your cost.
- You want the widest band range with a stand included: the Total Spectrum COMPACT, accepting that the lab tests were commissioned by the brand and the panel mounts vertically only.
- You want a documented output figure that two sources agree on: the Helio Glow.
- You want a published split on a bigger panel: the MitoPRO 1500X, accepting inconsistent labeling and a stand that costs extra.
What this guide does not tell you
The database holds no head-to-head test of these panels at the same distance, with the same meter, on the same day. Check the current price, trial and warranty on each brand's page before you buy, and use a panel within the trial window to see how it handles in your room. If you are also looking at other brands, the Rouge alternatives guide and the Infraredi alternatives guide match those brands' panels against price-matched options.
