About

RedLightPanelIndex exists because red light therapy buyers face spec sheets that cannot be compared: irradiance measured with different instruments at different distances, wavelength counts that hide where the power sits, and return policies buried in fine print. We compile the data, label its provenance, and let the specifications argue.

The site is reader-supported through affiliate commissions and follows three rules: every irradiance figure carries its measurement method, every clinical claim carries a PMID, and no brand can pay for a ranking. Where our data comes from third parties, it is attributed by name.

What is in the database

The brand database covers 188 panels from 41 brands. Each device record holds the published wavelengths and, where the brand publishes it, the share of power at each wavelength; LED count and chip type; irradiance with the instrument it was measured with (spectrometer, solar power meter, or unstated) and the distance; treatment area; price with the date it was last verified; and the warranty, trial and restocking terms taken from the brand's own policy pages. The panel database lists every model in one filterable table, and the brand comparisons run the same fields side by side.

How figures are verified

Irradiance is the field most often inflated, so it is never shown without its method. The claimed vs measured study checks brand claims against spectrometer readings wherever both exist. Prices are re-checked on the brand's own store and carry the verification date. Every clinical statement on the site cites a PubMed ID, and the site is rebuilt only after each cited ID has been confirmed against PubMed; an unverifiable citation stops publication. Rankings on the best panels pages are computed from these fields alone; the weighting is published on the methodology page.

What the site does not do

It does not test panels in a lab of its own; measured figures come from named third parties or from the brands. It does not diagnose or treat; the evidence pages grade what published trials found and say plainly where evidence is missing. It does not accept payment for placement, and a brand's affiliate program has no bearing on where it ranks.

Corrections

If a spec, price or policy on this site is out of date, the contact page explains how to send a correction with a source link. Corrections are applied to the record and the verification date updates.

Who reviews the articles

Articles are reviewed before publication by Ethan Miller, the site's research editor, an electrical engineer who has researched and used red light therapy devices since around 2020. He is not a medical professional; clinical statements rest on the cited trials.

Commercial relationships are set out on the affiliate disclosure page.

The step-by-step version of that verification process, sourcing, recheck schedule, method-label rule, PMID register and the build gate that enforces all of it, is laid out in behind the database.
