The most portable red light panel in the database is the Rouge Nano, which has the smallest footprint of the compact models we compared, and the rest of the small field runs from other palm-sized panels up to mid-size "mini" panels that are portable in name only. Small devices cover small areas, so portability always trades against how much body you can treat in one session.
Choosing a panel? Our ranking of the best red light therapy panels is computed from published, method-labeled specs across 188 devices. For a travel device, the spec that matters is footprint paired with an irradiance figure stated at a distance you will actually use.
How these picks were made
This list follows the same rules as every best-of on the site; see how rankings work. Only database fields are used: footprint from the published panel size, power source where the page states one, irradiance with its method and distance label, price with its verification date, warranty and trial terms. The database does not record weight or whether a travel case is included for any of these models, so we do not rank on either. If those two matter to you, check the brand's own product page before buying. The brand of each device gets the same criteria and the same cautions.
The criteria at a glance
Footprint is width times height from the published panel size, rounded, so it is a comparison aid and not a brand figure.
| Model | Panel size | Footprint | Power source stated | Irradiance (method, distance) | Price (verified) | Warranty | Trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rouge Nano | 5.9 x 2.99 x 1.18 in | about 18 sq in | Not stated | Disclosed solar 164 and spectrometer 90 at 6 in | $236 (2026-08-12) | 3 years | 60 days |

Two larger "mini" panels are covered after the picks, because they are small only next to a full-body panel.
The picks
1. Rouge Nano: smallest footprint and a disclosed spectrometer reading
The Rouge Nano is the most compact device we compared, at about 18 square inches, with 660 nm and 850 nm light. It is also unusually transparent on irradiance: the page records that the brand disclosed both a solar meter reading (164) and a spectrometer reading (90) at 6 inches, and the database advises planning around about half of a solar-meter or method-unstated figure. That makes 90 the safer working number for the dose calculator. It costs $236 (verified 2026-08-12), has a 3-year warranty, a 60-day trial, and no restocking fee on light panels, though the customer pays return shipping. Power source is not recorded, and there is no stand. Caution: it has just two wavelengths.
2. MitoPRO Mobile: five wavelengths in a small body
The MitoPRO Mobile is about 20 square inches and carries 630, 660, 810, 830 and 850 nm, which is the widest wavelength mix among the compact models. Its 100 mW/cm2 figure is measured at 3 inches with no method stated, so it is not comparable with 6-inch figures elsewhere in this list. The price is $349 (verified 2026-08-12), with a 3-year warranty and a 60-day trial. Caution: the database notes that the brand's broader irradiance labeling has been inconsistent and that an independent reading on another Mito model came in well below the claim, so plan from about half of the stated number until you have measured it.
3. Vellgus Mini: the one with a stated battery option
The Vellgus Mini is the only model here whose page mentions battery or USB power, which is the feature that matters most for travel. It is about 22 square inches, 660 and 850 nm, and $339 (verified 2026-08-13), with a 3-year warranty. The weak points are on the trial and the numbers: the trial is 30 days with a 20 percent restocking fee, and the irradiance claim (over 219 mW/cm2) has no stated distance and no third-party test, so the database treats it as likely inflated. Use the inverse-square explainer to see why a figure with no distance cannot be used to plan a session.
4. Kala Red Light Mini 2.0: palm-sized with four wavelengths
The Kala Red Light Mini 2.0 is about 23 square inches, with 630, 660, 830 and 850 nm and continuous or pulsed modes. At $295 (verified 2026-08-13) it is the lowest-priced device with a four-wavelength mix, but its warranty is 2 years, the trial is 30 days, and there is a $15 restocking fee with the customer paying return shipping. The brand states 100 mW/cm2 at contact and 135 to 161 at 6 inches without naming an instrument, a pair of figures that the database says are not comparable across distances.
5. LightpathLED Diesel Mini: near-infrared-leaning mix
The LightpathLED Diesel Mini is about 26 square inches with 670, 810 and 940 nm light, at $374 (verified 2026-08-13) with a 60-day trial and no restocking fee on this line. It states 94 mW/cm2 at 6 inches without a method; the database notes an independent spectrometer reading of 56 on a Diesel model against about 76 advertised, so use the lower figure for planning. The warranty entry on the page is ambiguous, so confirm the term with the brand.
6. BlockBlueLight PowerPanel Mini: longest warranty, larger footprint
The PowerPanel Mini is roughly 52 square inches, about three times the Rouge Nano, which makes it a desk or hotel-room panel more than a pocket one. It uses 660 and 850 nm, lists 100 mW/cm2 at 6 inches (method not stated), and costs $500 (verified 2026-09-12). Its 5-year warranty is the longest of the six, with a 30-day trial; the customer pays return shipping and the panel must be returned complete and resalable.
Larger minis worth knowing about
Two other "mini" models are not travel devices but are the smallest sizes in their brands. The MitoMIN 2.0 is 12 x 9 x 3 inches (about 108 square inches), 660 and 850 nm, 115 mW/cm2 at 6 inches with the method unclear, $249 (verified 2026-08-13), 3-year warranty, 60-day trial. The RLT Home Total Spectrum MINI is 11.8 x 11.4 inches (about 135 square inches), with seven wavelength bands from 480 to 1064 nm, a spectrometer reading of 98.7 mW/cm2 at 6 inches from a lab test the page attributes to the brand's commissioned testing, $595 (verified 2026-09-12), a 3-year warranty, a 60-day trial and no restocking fee. RLT Home is one brand among 41 in the database and is held to the same criteria and cautions as every other entry here. Both are better described as small desktop panels than as travel gear.
What small devices cannot do
A palm-sized panel covers a palm-sized area. Treating a large muscle group, such as a quadriceps or a back, means moving the device through several positions, and the per-session dose to that muscle is not comparable to what one pass of a full panel delivers. The targeted vs full panel guide works through the minutes for one, two and three treatment spots, and the dose calculator shows how the number of positions multiplies session time at a given irradiance.
Distance also matters more on a small device. The published figures above were taken at 3 or 6 inches or at contact, and irradiance falls quickly as you move back, so a figure quoted at one distance cannot be applied at another without checking.
Choosing by use case
- Smallest possible, with a transparent figure: the Rouge Nano.
- Widest wavelength mix in a small body: the MitoPRO Mobile, planning from a halved irradiance figure.
- Battery or USB power is a must: the Vellgus Mini is the one whose page states it; verify with the brand and treat its irradiance claim cautiously.
- Longest warranty in the compact set: the PowerPanel Mini, at the price of size.
- Browsing on a budget: see under $500 panels or the beginner picks; the full list is on the panels index.
Cautions
Eye protection applies to every device here, small ones included. Prices and terms change, and each figure above carries the date the database verified it, so confirm on the brand site before purchase. Travel does not change the safety rules: check the power supply and voltage for the country you are visiting, and do not use a device that has been damaged in transit.
